Save the children from human and sex trafficking has finally come front and center recently. This business has become a multi-billion dollar a year business at the expense of our children. We are very thankful our government both Federal and State have implemented programs to begin to apprehend and prosecute these evil individuals who are responsible for ruining the lives of so many of our young people.
Human and sex trafficking is in our large cities, our suburbs, our rural areas, small communities, and within our own neighborhoods. This is an evil business that hides in the shadows of our every day living.
I would like to share a couple of FACTS with you that most people are not aware of:
Most people think all of these children are run-a-ways, kidnapped, or have met someone on the internet, NOT TRUE FOLKS!! Of all the children who have fallen prey to this evil 60-68% (depending on what statistics you read) have had a history in the child welfare system. This leads us to the second fact.
Children aging out of the foster care system; I recently read a headliner stating these children are a pipeline to human trafficking.
We ask ourselves, how can this be? When a child never knows a real family, love, structure, and stability, a desperate need to be wanted and cared for becomes a part of who they are. Most of these children have never been taught good life skills which we all know are so important to become responsible adults. Does it surprise you how they become victims when a predator offers them love, money, and security when they have nothing and no one?
We all want to help in some way with this horrific problem and we can. We all can start by taking the first step within our own community. By supporting Circle Ranch for our foster children in need of housing you will be giving them the opportunity to have a family with Christian values, stability, unconditional love, and a chance to become a productive member of our community.
Please consider this need within our community and give what you can to help these children in need.
Thank you,
Jody Sandwick
